"The In-Between" - written 10/2/19

meet me in the in-between

stop -

just listen

I know it sounds like I’m saying nothing but please God just listen to what I say

there is this thing inside of me that pushes me backwards and sometimes,

most times I can’t even pray with my eyes closed

so meet me in the in-between where I can keep my eyes open and not see the awful red light or that terrible stinging -- but I won’t tell you why.

you will write it off from my forwardness.  what I mean by that is when I drive and push the windows down and say i love this song you forget that I am still someone who shutters at the way the wind stings me.

so meet me in the in-between

so I may tie the string between me and me

the gray will stay,

I’m sorry.  I don’t even like my favorite shirt anymore.
